The Zogby Poll

If you ask me today: "Some have argued that some leaders in the U.S. government knew in advance that attacks were planned on or around September 11, 2001, and that they consciously failed to take action. Do you agree or disagree with this argument?" I would say yes.

Where does it say the administration blew up the WTC? Where does it say "The administration knew the time, place and date of the attack and did nothing"? Where does it say the administration had a conspiracy to destroy the WTC?

In the same poll, only 28% of the people knew the number of the third building that fell.

If you "follow the money" you find the poll was paid for by 911truth.org.

It doesn't surprise me a bit that the poll was worded in such a way as to get people like me, who don't see a conspiracy to blow up the WTC, to vote in agreement with it.

You also have to take into account the context of the times in which this poll was taken. The August 6th PDB was just uncovered by the press and headlines like this were all over the front pages...

In this context, it's not unreasonable for people to agree with the poll which asks:

"Some have argued that some leaders in the U.S. government knew in advance that attacks were planned on or around September 11, 2001, and that they consciously failed to take action."

Other internet polls are also misleading. It's not hard to post messages on like minded message boards and blogs to get a one sided poll. The minute a poll comes out saying "Do you believe the towers were blown up?" you can be sure conspiracy message boards and blogs go to work funneling members to the poll. There are also scripts which automate clicking on the same poll unattended. There are other ways I don't want to detail here because they are too easy for anyone to copy. The point is these internet polls are very unreliable.

The NEW Zogby poll...

They had an opportunity to ask the question, "Do you think the government planted bombs in the towers?" and they once again chose to skip this. Why?  Because they knew they would get about 2 votes in a thousand.

Letís look at all the questions...

"23. Some people have said that the Bush Administration exploited the September 11th attacks to justify the invasion of Iraq. Others say that Bush acted correctly by going into Iraq because Saddam Hussein supported terrorism. Who are you more likely to agree with?"

My vote:  Bush exploited the Sept. 11th attacks (This has nothing to do with Bush or the government planting bombs. That Bush USED 911 is obvious to anyone willing to look at the evidence. Downing Street Memo, Whistleblowers, ETC..)

24. Some people believe that the US government and its 9/11 Commission concealed or refused to investigate critical evidence that contradicts their official explanation of the September 11th attacks, saying there has been a cover-up.  Others say that the 9/11 Commission was a bi-partisan group of honest and well-respected people and that there is no reason they would want to cover-up anything. Who are you more likely to agree with?

My vote: US government and 9/11 Commission are covering up (The Republican controlled 911 commission was covering for Bush and the Republicansí ineptitude pre-911.  But the so called 911 Truth group is being... err... DISHONEST because the government DID investigate the collapse of the towers. They charged the NIST with that job.)

"25. World Trade Center Building 7 is the 47-story skyscraper that was not hit by any planes during the September 11th attacks, but still totally collapsed later the same day.  This collapse was not investigated by the 9/11 Commission.  Are you aware of this skyscraper's collapse, and if so do you believe that the Commission should have also investigated it?  Or do you believe that the Commission was right to only investigate the collapse of the buildings which were directly hit by airplanes?"

My vote:  I am aware of it and think the Commission was right to investigate just the Twin Towers' collapse (Most people don't even know the building exists. Others don't know the NIST is investigating it and others still don't know the fireman were the ones who pulled everyone away from the building. This is ignorance on the part of the people and not a need to waste millions on investigations. You might as well say "Do you want the firemen investigated for letting the building collapse...? Again, we see the blatant dishonesty of the 911truthers suggesting the collapse wasn't investigated and that such an investigation would have been carried out by Congressmen instead of scientists of the NIST, most of whom are professors in civil engineering.  Not to mention the other studies done by civil engineers)

"26. Some people say that so many unanswered questions about 9/11 remain that Congress or an International Tribunal should re-investigate the attacks, including whether any US government officials consciously allowed or helped facilitate their success. Other people say the 9/11 attacks were thoroughly investigated and that any speculation about US government involvement is nonsense. Who are you more likely to agree with?"

My vote:  Not sure (I have not seen any evidence placing the government at the scene but the Bush administrationís ties to Saudis are troubling.  But I do feel that alone should not be the test.)

"27. How would you rate the US media's performance regarding 9/11, including their coverage of victim families' unanswered questions, theories that challenged the official account, and how the attacks were investigated?"

My vote: Poor/Negative (They are letting the conspiracy theorists grow out of hand because they don't want to legitimize this.  I think that's the wrong attitude.  A free society can not exist if one side of an issue is the only side speaking.)

Update:

As an example of how conspiracy theorists take quotes out of context, notice how my words were recently taken out of context.

From a conspiracy theorist site:

"...note this point by the creator of the debunking site just referenced:  "If you ask me today: 'Some have argued that some leaders in the U.S. government knew in advance that attacks were planned on or around September 11, 2001, and that they consciously failed to take action. Do you agree or disagree with this argument?' I would say yes"

They left out "Where does it say the administration blew up the WTC? Where does it say "The administration knew the time, place and date of the attack and did nothing"? Where does it say the administration had a conspiracy to destroy the WTC?" As if I'm saying I believe the government blew up the towers and the collapse should be reinvestigated. It's so obviously dishonest.

I write a page on how conspiracy theorists craft language to deceive the reader and they craft language to suggest I support an investigation into the collapse of the towers...  I couldn't make this stuff up...

Update:

The latest Zogby poll asks if they believe the Government "Made it happen". As I suspected, only 4.2% agreed with this statement. 26.5 said they thought the government "Let it happen"; though there is not one memo or person on the inside of such a plot who has come out as evidence of this.

An Opinion Dynamics Corporation poll says 34 percent of Americans believe in ghosts, 34% believe in UFO's, and 24% believe in witches. Yet only 4.2% believe Bush blew up the towers...

The so called "truth movement" is being very dishonest when they claim the zogby poll shows that people support an investigation into why the towers collapsed. Maybe we should spend millions investigating Area 59 first?

If you want to know how many people believe Bush blew up the towers, the answer was provided by the conspiracy theorists themselves.
